Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Warriors Table

Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing divine entities, demons, and sinister influences increasing in power within the urban setting.

Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of heroes who will separate from the primary party to begin their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team includes Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.

At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might appear mismatched, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense first encounter with the antagonists.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his own means, entering the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.

The traitor then settled his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty place.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • But, their status as key figures in House Halovar could assist the team access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The cleric defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.

This results in them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Seekers and Schemers parties.

Viewers can look forward to discovering which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
